Our active ingredient is Benzalkonium Chloride (BAC). This is a Quaternary Ammonium Compound, also known as a ‘Quat’. It has long been accepted as safe for human use and is used in a wide variety of everyday products, including eyewash, mouthwash and spermicidal creams, along with everyday cleaners and disinfectants. BAC is one of the safest biocides known and has a long history of use in a variety of markets.
Benzalkonium Chloride has proven residual antimicrobial activity and lasts for up to 4 hours after being applied. EcoHydra products are safe. In fact, BAC is an FDA-approved and EPA-registered product that’s been proven safe and effective, biodegradable, non-corrosive and safe for people, plants and animals. Our products are not tested on animals.
The EcoHydra Antimicrobial Instant Hand Sanitiser was given a glowing report from the Food and Drug Advisory Services (FDAS), BioCity, following additional testing under protocol BS EN 1276: 1997. The testing demonstrated the effectiveness of the product against a broad range of HCAIs, including Clostridium difficile and Norovirus.
